Smash Blocks
Brick breaking distilled. Bounce the ball off your paddle, chew through numbered block walls and keep the rally alive for one more multiplier.
Smash Blocks is a brick breaker with a counting twist: blocks carry numbers and must be struck more than once, so the wall in front of you is a resource-management problem as much as a reflex one. Every hit weakens a block; every cleared row raises your multiplier, and the ball gains speed as the board opens up.
Reading The Wall
Early, aim for the blocks with the lowest numbers near your paddle — they clear fast and keep the ball in play. Deep, chase the multi-hit blocks at the top of the wall because those are what stall your rally late.
Keeping The Ball Alive
- Never let the paddle chase a bad angle. Move early rather than last-in.
- Bank deliberately. Hitting the side wall at a shallow angle buys you a predictable return.
- Power-ups beat greed. The multi-ball and paddle-expand drops matter more than the raw points of a laser.
The feel is arcade-tight — quick rounds, escalating speed and a score that reflects clean rally management rather than luck.
🎮 How to Play
Basic Controls
- Drag or move the mouse to slide the paddle left and right.
- The ball bounces off the paddle toward the numbered blocks above.
- Each hit reduces a block's number by 1; at zero the block is destroyed.
- Lose a life if the ball falls past the paddle; game over at zero lives.
- Power-ups (multi-ball, wide paddle, laser) drop from destroyed blocks.
Strategy & Advanced Tips
- Aim for angles, not straight up. Hitting the ball with the edge of the paddle sends it diagonally, letting you chew through side columns before they become unreachable.
- Prioritise low-number blocks near the top. They are one hit from clearing and open up space for multi-ball combinations.
- Catch every power-up. Multi-ball triples your damage rate; wide paddle gives breathing room; laser lets you clear a row without aiming.
- Keep the ball in the upper half. Once the ball drops to the bottom third of the screen, control becomes much harder — intercept early.
- Learn the speed ramp. The ball accelerates slightly with each block cleared. Anticipate the faster bounces in the late game.
Playing on Mobile vs Desktop
On mobile, drag the paddle with your finger. On desktop, move the mouse or use arrow keys. The playfield fits portrait phone screens and scales to desktop monitors.
Common Mistakes
- Standing still and letting the ball bounce straight back — always angle the paddle.
- Chasing power-ups into bad paddle positions instead of keeping the ball alive.
- Panicking when multi-ball activates and losing track of the original ball.

Only real complaint: ball speed ramps a touch too hard around level five.
Beat my best of 3120 on the third run today. Power up drop rate is generous enough to keep trying 🟧
Classic breaker with a paddle that actually responds. Once you learn to chase the multiball the scores go up fast.
